The Horadric Cube is a container, purchasable from the Portal Vendor, that allows you to perform a couple of unique actions on your items.

You can upgrade items with the Horadric Cube:

  • Combine two of the same item for an item with increased stats
    • Items can be combined from +1 to +10
    • Stats on an item, other than resists, will increase by 10% (rounding down) with each additional level
    • The outgoing damage of a weapon will be increased by 2% for each additional level (not shown in the item description)
    • Note that items with +1 or more will not work for quest turn ins.
    • Successive item levels add Augment slots (and this is the only way to acquire augment slots for most if not all gear). Armor is +1 for a worn slot, +2 for clicky. Weapons are +1 combat proc, +2 worn, +3 clicky.
  • Combine an item with Rune of Talcode to upgrade
    • Rune of Talcode acts as a substitute duplicate item for the above cube recipe
    • Can combine stacks of Rune of Talcode
    • Rune of Talcode stacks up to 100

NB: Items can only have one of each type of effect. If you upgrade an item to add an augment slot for an effect of a type it already has (e.g., you add a worn slot to armor that already has a worn effect), the slot will replace the item's inherent effect. Take care when upgrading valuable items such as epics in the cube.

There are a few other items which can be purchased from the Portal Vendor in Vending >> Craft which have the following effects:

  • Sundering Limburger: Bring an enhanced item back to baseline, removing increased stats. (This is necessary for turning items in for quests.)

These cheeses retain class and slot requirements:

  • Clicky Parmesan: Turn an item with a clicky effect into an augment that can be placed in an item socket.
  • Proc Cheddar: Turn an item with a proc effect into an augment that can be placed in an item socket.
  • Worn Asiago: Turn an item with a worn effect into an augment that can be placed in an item socket.

There are also cheeses specifically for Epic Weapons which remove the class requirements but when socketed, the containing item can only be equipped to Charm or Power Source only. Please note that epic weapon hidden effects will not work from an augment!

  • Feta Clicker (epic): Turn an Epic Weapon with a clicky effect into an augment.
  • Proc Fontina (epic): Turn an Epic Weapon with a proc effect into an augment.
  • Worn Stilton (epic): Turn an Epic Weapon with a worn effect into an augment.
