Getting Started

Installation and Setup

Download and install a copy of EQ Rain of Fear 2 Client.

• Remember where you install your client to. You will need this path again to complete installation
• There is no legal copy of this we distribute, so you will have to search for it.
• EZServer may have a client download available. Torrents and other sources may also work.
• Once installed, find and right click on the `eqgame.exe` and select ‘Send to’ then ‘Desktop’. This will create a shortcut for accessing Chainbreaker on your desktop

Get Chainbreaker's custom files

• Download the Chainbreaker Server Files from the chainbreaker-files channel, which you can select from the left-hand column in Discord
• Unzip these Server Files into your EQ installation path (where eqgame.exe is)
• When prompted, select to ‘Replace All files’ in the location with the ones you are extracting.

Create an EQEmulator account:

• Visit http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/register.php
• Read the terms, check the I have read box, click register
• Enter the login account name that you want in the User Name section
• Set a password
• Set your email account (you should use a real email account that you have access to)
• Complete the Random Question section to prove you’re not a bot
• Complete the Additional anti-bot question in the Additional Required Information section
• Enter your date of birth and privacy settings
• Click the Complete Registration button at the bottom of the screen
• Check your email for the account activation email and click the link to activate your account

Recommendations

• To avoid the very loud "bag opening" sound when opening or closing all bags at once, edit the soundassets.txt file, then search for and remove the line with this text:
  • 145^itemclth.WAV

Rules

Familiarize yourself with the Servers' Rules. They are enforced!

Logging In

• Run the shortcut that you created earlier
• Sign in with your EQ Emulator account
• At the server select screen, select Chainbreaker and click Play

Character Creation

• You can create up to three separate characters on your account
• Each character starts with 2 additional reincarnation points to spend beyond your primary selection
  • One starting point for an additional Race
  • One starting point for an additional Class
  • Reincarnation points are one of the ways in which you can progress your character
• Select a character and click play to get started
• Hail the portal to select one of your other characters to act as your Mercenary
• Purchase class and race tokens from the portal and turn them in to their respective masters in local transport on the character you want to grant that class or race. Your newly created characters can have one additional class and one additional race.
• Please note that spells for your first chosen class will automatically scribe into your spellbook when you level. All other spells* must be purchased and scribed as normal.
• * Except for portal spells which are automatically scribed into your spellbook after your 3rd reincarnation.

Loading Area

• The loading area is the central hub of Chainbraker. Here you can do the following and more:
  • Spend additional reincarnation points to build each of your characters
  • Select one of your two other characters to act as your mercenary
  • Buy starting spells. Levels 1 - 20 of each class are available here
  • Teleport to cities corresponding to the racial selections of your characters
  • Teleport to Druid or Wizard rings/portals for the corresponding spells that you have scribed on any character
